Skills are most important for poor children to earn for their household so RCDS developed proposal for youth to improve their skills and job linkages for them. Keeping in view the vocational skills program which started for girls in district Sheikhupura, RCDs got feedback from the community that there is need to address the youth issue in the targeted areas as well. This project idea was shared with Engro Foundation which finally approved and implemented in the targeted area RCDS, in collaboration with Engro Foundation, launched a" Hunar Scholarship Program" in Muridkey.
Most of population of target village Sikham was working as laborer in the Engro Eximp and other surrounding industries, but they did not have any technical skill. Under the program me, as many as eight candidates were selected and they were provided funds and facilitated in linkages development for getting training in Descon Institute of Technical Training. RCDS organized a successful orientation seminar in the Village Sikam which was attended by management of the Engro Eximp, Descon Training Institute, local government officials, RCDS management and local community youths. Under this project, detailed meeting was conducted with Descon Institute of Technical Training to develop the working and coordination strategy regarding candidate's enrolment criteria, scope of trade, course duration, certificates after completion and jobs placement options. RCDS received the 45 applications after the short listing a written test was conducted for first stage of selection. As many as eight successful candidates completed their eight months course and received their certificates. After the completion of their courses, RCDS developed linkages of these candidates with a local academy for improving their communications skills. As many as four of these eight candidates got jobs UCH Power Plant, two were placed at Engro Eximp and two got jobs in the Gulf states.
