Azra Bibi, 23 years old, is the wife of Abdul Qadir and mother of three young daughters.

She lives in Kotla Bakhsh Khan, Tehsil Alipur, District Muzaffargarh. Her husband works as a daily wage laborer and is the only earning member of the family. Their income was already very limited, but they somehow managed to survive. “We were living a simple life. My husband worked hard every day so we could feed our daughters,” she shared softly.

When the devastating floods hit their area, Azra Bibi’s life changed overnight. Their mud house was completely swept away by the strong floodwaters. With no shelter left, the family had no choice but to move into a tent. “The flood took everything from us. Our home disappeared in front of our eyes,” she recalled with tears.

The family had two goats, which were their only small asset and a source of support during hard times. But the floodwaters also washed them away. Losing the goats meant losing their only backup for survival. “Those goats were like our savings. When they were gone, it felt like we lost our last hope,” she said.“For weeks, we had no income, no food, no support. We slept in makeshift tents, unsure how we would survive the next day,” she said. Now living in a tent, Azra faces daily struggles to protect her daughters from harsh weather and uncertainty. Her husband’s daily wage work also became irregular after the flood, making it even harder to manage food and basic needs. “Some days, we don’t know how we will eat. As a mother, it hurts when they ask for food and I have nothing to give,” she shared with a heavy heart.“In this difficult time, I received a food ration and hygiene kit from RCDS. The food package helped to meet my household needs for almost two months.” This assistance comfort to our lives for the first time after the flood, she said with a smile.
